Have you been experiencing sudden muscular aches and pains without a mechanism of injury in the past year? If your physician has ruled out a specific cause, it may be Quarantine Pain Syndrome (QPS).
QPS is one of the lesser-known side effects of home confinement due to the COVID-19 virus. It is not the result of having the COVID-19 virus. Instead, it’s working or attending school from home for extended periods with limited to no exercise.
The definition of Quarantine Pain Syndrome is muscular-skeletal pain due to lack of physical activity. Physically challenging the human body is vital to maintaining flexibility and strength. Without regular exercise, the muscles lose the ability to function efficiently, which causes muscle and joint pain.
Thus far, the most common complaint is low back pain; however, any muscle or joint can be susceptible to QPS. The majority of at-home work stations are not ergonomically correct or do not support good posture. The Rebound Fitness staff can educate on how to configure an ergonomically correct home office!
